As we previously posted on Facebook, we officially (and finally) moved to paradise in June! This week will include fingerprinting for D’s new teaching job at Treadway Elementary School (walking distance from our new home!) and marking our one-month anniversary here in central Florida with our first visitors!!
Hurricane Ida made a direct hit on her parish and community last August and left us and so many of our neighbors, family and friends back in Louisiana reeling. We evacuated to Texas for the entire month of October (thank you again for being there for us, Gwen).
A couple of months later with little planning but a few days off around New Year’s, we drove to Ocala and Leesburg with thoughts of possibly making the biggest change in our lives together (35 years married in May 2022). Mary lined up realtors who showed us nine homes in one day, the last two right here in a peaceful, well-settled and welcoming 55+ community named Scottish Highlands. We absolutely fell in love with this place on the far side of Leesburg from The Villages and right where we wanted to be!
We’re missing family and friends – especially our daughter, Ell – but keeping in touch with them through social media and phone calls. Our overall health and quality of life have improved greatly in just a few weeks, and the guest room at our home is ready for Wendy and Bruce who we’re expecting late this week as our first official guests!
We can’t wait, and we’ll share some of our experiences and photos and thoughts and what nots on this brand-new website launched today. Please bookmark and contact the full-time innkeeper (Mary) for dates you’d like to come and see us here at the nouvelle château – a bit smaller than one would imagine if described that way, so let’s go with the Maison des Perrodin a.k.a. our charmant petit Fleur-de-Leesburg.

With several more back home taking a liking to our next-door neighbors’ yard…
